Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the ongoing “Israeli” aggression
13-05-2021; 06:00 PM
Gaza Strip lives in catastrophic conditions due to the ongoing “Israeli” attacks for the fourth day.
“Israeli” warplanes have waged more than 500 raids, killed 83 people including 17 children and 7 women, and wounded 487 people, mostly women, and children.
“Israel” didn’t stop at this point, but escalated its aggression by destroying whole residential areas in a blatant violation of international conventions which forbid collective punishment and civilians targeting.
Moreover, “Israel” continued its attacks against homes and vital facilities, without any regard to Eid Al-Fitr, which is celebrated by Palestinians today.
This aggression has caused substantial damage, including the partial and complete destruction of 500 residential units, besides the damages in 2100 additional units.
Massive damage has been inflicted as well on media offices, economic facilities, roads, water supplies, communication, and Internet services.
In the meantime, racist “Israeli” police still assault the Palestinians in the occupied territories of 1948 and attack them in their homes, shops, and even mosques.
Extremist settlers are still provoking the Palestinian residents in Jerusalem and Al-Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Regarding this ongoing aggression, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the following points:
First, the ongoing aggression by “Israel” has left no choice for Palestinians but to defend themselves, their land, and their holy places, a right granted by all religions, laws, and international conventions.
Second, we condemn the targeting of women and children, and the bombing of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, and call the international community to hold “Israel” accountable for these war crimes.
Third, we commend our steadfast people in Gaza, Jerusalem, West Bank, 1948 lands, and abroad, and call them to collaborate in the face of this “Israeli” aggression.
Fourth, we send our best greetings to the free people of the world, who demonstrated to condemn “Israel” and show solidarity with the Palestinian people, and we call them to continue their protest until the end of this aggression.
Fifth, we call the international community to exert pressure on “Israel” to stop its aggression immediately. We stress that this state of escalation in Gaza Strip is a direct result of the racist acts by “Israel” against Palestinians in Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza, and should come to an end.
Sixth, the “Israeli” Prime Minister claimed in his statements today that he seeks the restoration of quiet. We stress that if “Netanyahu” is serious about these intentions, he must stop attacking the innocent civilians of Gaza, and prevent the provocations of his extremist allies in Al-Shiekh Jarrah and the lands of 1948.
