Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza
The Desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque Dangerous Escalation & Unprecedented Crime
10-05-2021
Today, Monday, May 10, 2021 (Ramadan 28), “Israeli” forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque, and brutally attacked the worshipers inside, and they didn’t stop at this point, but attacked the field clinic and assaulted medics and journalists. Until the writing of this statement, the dangerous attack has caused 450 injuries among worshipers, some of them in serious condition.
“Israeli” tried by this aggression to empty Al-Aqsa mosque of Muslim worshipers and the employees of Islamic Waqf, and pave the way for extremist settlers to desecrate the mosque, without any regard for the sanctity of the mosque or the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
Regarding these criminal attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds “Israeli government” and its extremist settlers the full responsibility for the consequences of these abhorrent attacks, and warn of a possible escalation or even a religious war in West Bank, Gaza Strip, and other places.
The Ministry denounces the silence of the international community regarding these unprecedented crimes and calls the countries and the rights groups of the free world to take practical steps to stop the ongoing massacre in Jerusalem because statements are no longer enough. The “Israeli” attack on Al-Aqsa mosque is a clear violation of Palestinians’ freedom of worship, therefore, we demand an international investigation committee to investigate “Israel’s” actions, and hold it accountable for its crimes.
The Ministry calls upon Arab and Islamic countries to immediately cut off their relations with “Israel”, which revealed today its true face, and its criminal intentions towards the Palestinians and Al-Aqsa mosque.
The Ministry calls the free activists around the world to demonstrate in solidarity with Jerusalem, and with the oppressed people of Palestine, and increase their efforts to boycott the occupation politically, economically, and academically.
Finally, the ministry sends its best greetings to the steadfast people of Jerusalem and calls them to continue their efforts to defend Al-Aqsa mosque in the face of this unprecedented attack.
