PRESS RELEASE
The Closure of Fishing Zone Is a Collective Punishment
and a Dangerous Escalation
27-4-2021
“Israeli” occupation has decided on Monday (27th April 2021) to close the fishing zone, and prevent Palestinians from fishing in the waters of Gaza Strip, which is considered a collective punishment against Palestinian people in Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers this decision an extremely dangerous escalation against our people in Gaza who have been suffering the woes of siege for more than 15 years.
In this regard, we hold “Israeli government” the responsibility for all the consequences of this alarming decision, and call upon international community to discourage “Israeli” occupation from these aggressive policies.
We also want to remind regional and international mediators that the occupation started this escalation by his arbitrary measures against our people in Jerusalem. Instead of de-escalating the tensions, the occupation chose to add fuel to the fire, and tighten the siege of Gaza.
Gaza has become a disaster in the making, therefore, we demand an immediate move by all concerned players to lift the siege of Gaza once and for all, as interim solutions cannot help anymore.
