Press Release
“Israeli” Aggression in Jerusalem Must Stop Immediately
23-4-2021
A large group of extremist settlers tried last night, Thursday 22 April 2021, to storm into Al-Aqsa Mosque, while chanting racist slogans against Arabs and Palestinians, in a clear provocation of Palestinian worshipers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Instead of preventing extremist settlers from reaching Al-Aqsa mosque to deescalate the situation, “Israeli” police attacked Palestinian worshipers and injured dozens of them.
Regarding this dangerous aggression against Jerusalem and its residents, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the following:
First, we hold the “Israel” government accountable for this dangerous escalation in Jerusalem and warn of the possibility of its spreading to other places, if “Israeli” provocations continued.
Second, we call Arab and Islamic states, especially Jordan the custodian of holy places in Jerusalem, and Morocco the head of Jerusalem Committee, to exert pressure on “Israeli” authorities and stop its aggression against the holy city and its residents.
Third, we call mediators, especially Egypt and the United Nations, and the international community, most notably the United States, to act immediately to prevent the outbreak of religious war as a result of “Israeli” provocations.
Forth, we call upon international organizations and rights groups to document the “Israeli” violations against Jerusalemites, including arbitrary detention, homes demolition, and the denial of access to Al-Aqsa mosque.
Fifth, we send our best greetings to our people in Jerusalem and call them to stay steadfast in the face of this dangerous aggression against the holy city.
