Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Palestine Children Day
April 5, 2021
Palestinian people commemorate Palestine Children Day on April 5 every year, in order to highlight the suffering of Palestinian children due to occupation.
It is true that occupation affects our entire nation, but children represent the weakest point, therefore, they are the most affected sector by “Israeli” violations.
Although international conventions forbid the targeting of children, “Israeli occupation” still targets Palestinian children specifically, as if “Israel” is waging a war against childhood!
While we “celebrate” the anniversary of Palestine Children Day, our children live in catastrophic conditions. In besieged Gaza strip, children suffer poverty, hunger, lack of food security, lack of medicine, and poor education.
In West Bank and Jerusalem, the situation isn’t better, as “Israel” kills and arrests Palestinian children on daily basis, in contradiction of all international conventions.
The reality of Palestinian children in refugee camps isn’t better, as children live in miserable and inhumane conditions.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to highlight the following:
First, we call upon international community for an urgent movement to left the siege of Gaza, which deprives Palestinian children of the most basic needs.
Second, we call upon international organizations, and children’s rights groups, most notably UNICEF to protect Palestinian children from “Israeli” violations and to provide them with the basics of human life.
Third, we demand an international investigation in “Israeli” violations against Palestinian children, including the murder of dozens of children during the peaceful protests of “March of Return”.
Forth, we demand an immediate release of all children and underage detainees from “Israeli” jails.
Fifth, we encourage Palestinians and free activists everywhere to expose “Israeli” violations against Palestinian children.
Finally, we would like to send our best greetings to our children, who still bear the brunt of “Israeli” occupation, and we promise them to work for a better future.
