Planning & International Cooperation Bureau Condemns Escalating Violations against Palestinian Prisoners
Aug 17, 2023
The Planning and International Cooperation Bureau is closely following the escalating violations by the “Israeli” occupation against the Palestinian prisoners in its jails. The latest of these was the raid on the Negev Desert Prison and the suppression of the prisoners this morning, Thursday, August 17, 2023.
These attacks are, in essence, a practical embodiment of the policies of the extremist Israeli Minister of Internal Security, “Itamar Ben Gvir,” who has been leading a racist and inhumane campaign against the prisoners in the occupation’s prisons since taking office. This is a blatant violation of all international laws and norms related to the treatment of prisoners.
As we condemn this provocative assault on our hero prisoners, we warn of its implications on the security and stability in the region, given the high significance of the prisoners’ issue to the Palestinian people. We call on the international community to take immediate and urgent action to protect the Palestinian prisoners from the racist policies of “Ben Gvir,” and to hold the occupation government accountable under international laws and treaties.
