Ben Gvir’s Decisions: A Dangerous Escalation Against Prisoners and Destabilization of the Region’s Security
June 31, 2023
The Planning & International Cooperation Bureau in Gaza condemns the extremist Minister of National Security, “Itamar Ben-Gvir,” for his decision to prohibit the early release of any Palestinian prisoners. This decision represents a new crime added to the record of the criminal “Ben-Gvir” and the fascist occupation government. It primarily targets patient prisoners who have the right to early release, effectively acting as a slow death sentence for dozens of patient prisoners held behind the bars of the occupation’s prisons.
In the face of these criminal decisions, we hold the occupation government fully responsible for the safety of the prisoners in its jails. We also warn of the serious ramifications of these racist decisions on the security and stability of the region, especially considering the high significance the issue of prisoners holds in the hearts of the Palestinian people.
We renew our call to the international community and its active institutions to urgently and swiftly take action to compel the Israeli occupation to abide by international treaties and conventions, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, which clearly prohibits ” inhuman treatment, including biological experiments, willfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health” of the prisoners of war.
