Planning & International Cooperation Bureau Commends Supporting Countries at ICJ
June 27, 2023
The Planning & International Cooperation Bureau closely follows the sessions of the International Court of Justice, convened at the request of the United Nations to provide an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from the Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly in the city of Jerusalem.
In this regard, the Planning & International Cooperation Bureau expresses its profound gratitude to our brothers in the State of Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in addition to the People’s Republic of China, who have submitted legal memoranda affirming the rights of the Palestinian people to their land, holy sites, and the determination of their destiny, and condemning the racist practices of the occupation, especially the settlement activities in the occupied West Bank.
As we appreciate these noble positions, which are aligned with the principles of international law, we call for further efforts to hold the occupation and its leaders accountable for their criminal and racist behavior. This is particularly crucial in light of the dangerous settlement attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday, June 27, 2023, where extremist groups, led by “Ben Gvir” and protected by the occupation police, stormed the sacred mosque and practiced provocative rituals within its courtyards.
We warn against the grave repercussions of the occupation’s malicious attempts to alter the reality of Islamic sanctities in Jerusalem and manipulate the city’s demographic identity by bolstering settlements and expelling its Palestinian inhabitants. The international community must act promptly and urgently to condemn this aggression and compel the occupying state to abide by the principles of international law.
