MOFA Calls for Awawdeh Immediate Release
August 29, 2022
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza follows with great concern the deteriorating health conditions of the Palestinian prisoner “Khalil Awawdeh” after 170 days of hunger strike in a protest against his administrative detention, which means that he is prisoned without a charge or trial. Administrative detention is a stark violation of all international conventions which guarantee all prisoners the right to fair trial. The international community should immediately interfere to put an end to “Awawdeh” suffering and stop the so-called “administrative detention” once and for all.
The occupation proves day after day that it lacks the slightest respect for human values and international laws, while the international community confirms its lack of effectiveness and even its complicity. Awawdeh’s hunger strike for this long period of time without fault is a disgrace to all humanity.
