Full-Fledged Crime with No Accountability
August 17, 2022
On Tuesday, August 16, the “Israeli” newspaper Haaretz published a detailed investigation confirming that the occupation’s army was behind the murder of five children in Al-Faluja cemetery in Jabalya during the latest aggression on the Gaza Strip. According to the newspaper, an internal investigation conducted by the occupation army concluded that the five children were killed by “Israeli” fire, but it decided to conceal the findings anyway, cover the crime, and blame Palestinian factions instead, in criminal behavior that reminds us of organized crime gangs.
In front of this compounded crime, we call all rights and legal organizations, that abide by the International Law and International Humanitarian Law and seek to provide justice and protection to children and civilians, to seriously work in order to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice. In the light of the absence of accountability and the biased treatment that favors the occupation state in disregard of the law or the blood of innocent children, this crime is a replica of hundreds of similar crimes committed by the occupation over the period of 70 years.
These facts present the international community with serious questions: Isn’t it the time to hold the occupation state accountable for its crimes? Isn’t it the time to end military and economic dealings with the occupation’s state? Don’t these grave violations amount to war crimes and need investigation and accountability? By its silence, the international community is, in fact, complacent with occupation in its crimes against the Palestinian people, and history will record this as a disgrace to all humanity.
