Desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque a Serious Provocation.. Occupation Responsible for the Consequences

We have followed the calls made by extremist settlers to offer sacrifices inside of Al-Aqsa mosque, a stark provocation to all Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.

Occupation authorities announced to the media that they won’t allow such provocations, but on the ground, assaulted the worshipers inside Al-Aqsa mosque in order to set the ground for the settlers to perform their rituals.

These assaults left, until the writing of this statement, hundreds of casualties among peaceful worshipers and many serious injuries due to the occupation’s use of live ammunition, rubber bullets, stun grenades, and gas canisters, not to mention the brutal beating of women, children, and elderly people.

In this regard, we hold the occupation full responsibility for the consequences of these provocations, which represent a violation of the Palestinians’ right to freedom of worship and an insult to Muslims worldwide.

We also call upon the international community to immediately pressure the occupation’s government to stop settler’s provocations, cease the desecration of Al-Aqsa mosque, and ensure the freedom of worship, which are part of its responsibilities as an occupation force. We also warn of a serious escalation as a result of these assaults.
