The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the new Israeli law on legitimizing the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
This came in two separate letters sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to “Verica Mogherini”, the EU foreign affairs Commissioner, and “Antonio Guterres”, the UN Secretary-General.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that adopting such laws would lead to more security escalation in the occupied territories.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that no matter Israel confiscates Palestinian lands and properties and imposes more facts on the ground, they always belong to the Palestinian people.
The bill proposal aims to legalize thousands of settlement units that have been built on Palestinian land, especially in the occupied West Bank.
The bill allows the occupation state to confiscate Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. It also allows the possession of private lands owned by Palestinians.
The new bill will give legitimacy to 55 small settlements with about 4,000 units located in the occupied West Bank.
