On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a graduation ceremony for ” the qualification program in building engineering and crisis management” at Al Mathaf Hotel on Gaza beach. The program aimed to train 90 participants, including government employees from various ministries and postgraduate students at the Islamic University.
The training, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Cinta Gaza Malaysia, the Islamic University, and Malaysian universities UTM and UTHM, covered various engineering topics such as project management, coastal engineering, disaster and crisis management, engineering report writing, building information modeling, infrastructure project financing, and other specialized topics.
Mahmoud Al-Madhoun, the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained that the goal of the program is to provide government institutions, academic institutions, municipalities, and the private sector with the best knowledge and expertise. He also noted that the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cinta Gaza-Malaysia to provide training opportunities and postgraduate scholarships for the staff in public and private sectors, municipalities, and academic institutions. He pledged to continue working to improve the services provided to Gaza citizens and to enhance the government’s work.
Jawad Al-Agha, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works & Housing, hoped that “the program would be the beginning of knowledge exchange and mutual cooperation between Palestine and Malaysia”, thanking Cinta Gaza Malaysia for sponsoring the program.
Relatedly, Mohamed Nader Qamar Al-Zaman, director of Cinta Gaza Malaysia, praised the efforts made to ensure the success of the program. He explained that the goal of the program is to develop the capabilities of government and academic personnel and prepare them for building the country in the post-liberation era.
The participants expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to everyone who contributed to the success of the training program, calling for further expansion of such initiatives in terms of quantity and quality through the implementation of more training programs and sending trainees abroad for face-to-face training.
The program, which lasted for five months, included 21 training days, with 5 hours per day. More than 30 academics and experts from elite Malaysian universities participated in its implementation. It was carried out at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza.
