There is a total of 4450 detainees in the occupation’s prisons, 32 of whom are women including a minor girl. Whereas, 160 of the detainees in the occupation’s prisons are children and minors. There are 530 administrative detainees.
More than 600 of the detainees are ill, 200 of whom were diagnosed with chronic illness, and 22 of them have cancer and tumors of varying degrees. The detainee, Nasser Abu Hmeid, is the most dangerous of these cases, as he is facing a serious health condition due to lung cancer.
227 of the detainees were martyred, as well as, hundreds of former detainees who were martyred by diseases they caught from imprisonment. 72 detainees were martyred as a result of medical negligence.
There is a total of 549 detainees serving life sentences, the longest being Abdullah Barghouti, who was sentenced to 67 life sentences.
The occupation is still detaining 8 bodies of detainees who were martyred in prison, while the number of former detainees before the Oslo Agreement is 25.
Besides the former detainees imprisoned before the signing of the Oslo Agreement, there are those who were detained during Al-Aqsa Intifada. The number of those whose years of detention have exceeded 20 years until the end of March 2022 is 152 detainees.
There are 8 parliamentarians detained in the occupation prisons, including Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Sa’adat.
There are 11 journalists detained in the occupation prisons.
