The Supreme Committee of Projects, headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handed the Civil Defense in Gaza Strip on Monday, Nov 29, a number of essential tools and equipment donated by a charity organization in South Africa.
The donation was handed by the Ministry’s director-general Mr. Mahmoud El-Madhoun, and the manager of Projects & International Cooperation in the Ministry Mr. Emad Mater. They were received by Mr. Zuhair Shahin, the director-general of Civil Defense, and Mohammad Shrer, the manager of Supply & Finance in the Civil Defense.
During the ceremonies, El-Madhoun and Shahin discussed the future cooperation between the two sides and the possible ways to mobilize international support for the needs of Civil Defense, especially in times of wars and natural disasters.
Mr. Shahin emphasized the humanitarian role of Civil Defense, refuting any accusations of political or security affiliations. Shahin also indicated that international laws have granted Civil Defense the right to work even on the battlefields.
In the end, Mr. Shahin thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Supreme Committee of Projects for their role in mobilizing support for the Civil Defense and satisfying its needs.
