Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza
“Israeli” Aggression Must Be Stopped Immediately
11-05-2021
Since yesterday, May 10, 2021, the Defenseless Gaza Strip has been under continuous “Israeli” aggression. Until the writing of this statement, the aggression left 25 people dead, including 9 children, a woman, and a number of patients and people of special needs, besides more than 100 injuries.
“Israeli Army” has deliberately attacked crowded residential areas. The latest episode of these crimes was targeting two residential apartments in Al-Shati’ Camp; one of the most crowded places in the world. The bombing led to the death of 3 civilians, including a woman and a disabled man.
The “Israeli” bombing continued all night and terrorized safe civilians, especially women, children, and old people. The attacks also targeted economic facilities, which might lead to a humanitarian and economic disaster in the besieged strip.
All this coincides with the closure of the border crossings which provide the strip with medical and food necessities, and the prevention of patients from leaving the strip to get the needed medical care. Add to this the closure of the fishing zone which provides living for thousands of fishermen and their families.
In the light of this dangerous aggression, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls the international community, regional mediators, human rights groups, and the free people of the world to:
Stop “Israel’s” provocations in Jerusalem and Al-Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood as it was the main cause of escalation.
Stop “Israel’s” aggression on Gaza Strip, and prevent it from targeting defenseless civilians.
Provide Gaza hospitals with the necessary medical supplies to deal with the large number of casualties as a result of this aggression. It should be noted the health sector in Gaza Strip already lacks medical supplies due to the imposed siege for 15 years.
Support the efforts of Palestine in international forums, including ICC and UNHRC, in order to hold “Israel” accountable for its crimes in Gaza and Jerusalem.
“Israel” feels that it can get away with its crimes and acts as if it was above the law. The time has come for the international community to put an end to this.
