Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Martyrdom of Prisoner Naser Abu Hmeid
Dec 20, 2022
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza has received with deep sadness the departure of the Palestinian prisoner, Naser Abu Hmeid, after long suffering from Lung cancer.
Abu Hmeid’s martyrdom is new evidence of the policy of deliberate medical negligence and slow execution followed by the “Israeli” occupation against patient prisoners.
As we offer our deepest condolences to Abu Hmeid’s family, and especially to his bereaved mother, we call on the international community to pressure the “Israeli” occupation to hand over his body so that he can receive a proper burial.
In front of this renewed crime, we call upon all international organizations and human rights groups to put an end to the suffering of Palestinian prisoners in “Israeli” jails, especially patients, women, children, and elderly people.
Estimates indicate that 550 patients are suffering behind “Israeli” bars, including 200 people with chronic diseases and 20 cancer patients.
Peace to our Martyrs, Freedom to our Prisoners, and Shame on the Occupation.
